Maggie Cooper is a self-absorbed hypochondriac living alone in three-bedroom government housing. Due to a recession, and in desperate need of family homes, the local council starts relocating single people to “Passive Acres” an “almost-ready-for-retirement” community.
Not wanting to leave her lifetime home, Maggie panics during her relocation interview, and declares a husband she doesn't have. She now has only three weeks to find Mr. Right before having to reappear with him before authorities.
In desperation, she sets her sights on Fred Broughton a former henpecked widower, who is going through his own mid-life crisis. Following the death of his tyrannical wife, Fred has had an enlightening experience whilst watching the movie "Saturday Night Fever." He now walks, dresses and dances like John Travolta.
In an unusual alliance, Fred agrees to masquerade as Maggie’s husband, on condition that she becomes his disco partner in a dance competition.
Set in 1978, "Maggie the Brave" is a quirky character- driven British comedy that encourages us to believe. “It’s never too late”
